Don (Donald) King was on the top of his form when he promoted Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson and other famous boxers as their boxing promoter. His time for this success was in the 1970’s. Before Don King gained this fame, he had been involved in two murder cases and spent three and half years in prison. Back in 1954, King shot Hillary Brown who King says stole from one of his establishments. This killing was determined by the courts to be a justifiable homicide and he did not serve any time for it. In 1966, King killed Sam Garrett by stomping him to death for owing him $600. He was initially charged with second-degree murder, however; charges were reduced to manslaughter and he was only given a three and half years in prison. The Governor, Jim Rhodes of Ohio later pardoned King in 1983.

Monica Bedi, an Indian actress who worked with many popular actors and actresses in the industry for 20 years served 8 years in prison. Bedi got involved with a fugitive and the two were caught entering Portugal with documents that had been forged. They were both given 4 years of jail time there and were then deported to India. Bedi was also convicted of passport forgery. India released her four years later as she had served time in Portugal which they credited to her. Her total prison time amounted to 8 years.
